Case Study: World Masters Darts 2026

Overview

The World Masters Darts underwent a complete redesign aimed at elevating the live arena experience while significantly enhancing the broadcast presentation. The brief focused on moving key presentation moments onstage and creating a more visually impactful environment for both the live audience and viewers at home.

Working closely with Matchroom and the PDC, our team supported the delivery of the new concept through early operational involvement, detailed planning and the introduction of new 3D visualisation technology.

The Challenge

After several years using a consistent event format, Matchroom identified an opportunity to refresh the look and feel of the arena. The challenge was to deliver a clear step-change in presentation while maintaining budget control, build efficiency and broadcast quality.

Any design changes also needed to translate seamlessly on camera, ensuring sponsor branding and key visual moments performed effectively across live production and television coverage.

The New Design & Vision

The redesigned event introduced a stronger on-stage focus, creating a clear visual centrepiece within the arena. This was supported by a significant increase in LED integration, including multiple LED screens and the introduction of a new LED walk-on ramp.

These additions enhanced scale, energy and atmosphere, transforming the player entrance experience while providing broadcasters with bold, dynamic visuals throughout the show.

Operational Approach & Collaboration

Operations were involved from an early stage, working collaboratively with Matchroom, PDC, Batcam, Gravity Media and PR Events to ensure the creative vision could be delivered efficiently and realistically.

This early alignment allowed design concepts to be reviewed, tested and refined in line with technical constraints, budget considerations and broadcast requirements – ensuring a smooth transition from concept to on-site delivery.

3D Planning & Broadcast Validation Using Revit

To support the new design and increased broadcast focus, Revit-based 3D modelling was introduced into the planning process for this event.

The full venue environment, including stage layout, truss structures, LED screens and walk-on elements, was designed and visualised in 3D ahead of build. Virtual camera positions were then placed within the model to confirm sightlines and validate exactly which branding and visual elements would appear in each broadcast shot.

This process proved particularly valuable given the increase in LED surfaces and the introduction of the new walk-on, allowing branding placement and on-screen impact to be signed off with confidence. By identifying potential issues early, the team reduced risk, minimised last-minute changes and supported a more efficient on-site delivery.

Scope of Delivery

The redesigned build significantly expanded the technical footprint of the event. Our delivery included:

  • Multi-zone stage and performance infrastructure
  • Integrated LED screen rigging and LED walk-on entrance structure
  • Multiple lighting, set and specialist camera trusses
  • Dedicated camera platforms and broadcast facilities
  • Tunnel and player entrance structures

This complex installation was delivered while maintaining tight build schedules and careful budget control.

Results & Impact

The final delivery achieved a clear visual upgrade for both the live audience and viewers at home. The enhanced on-stage presentation, increased LED integration and broadcast-led planning resulted in a more immersive arena environment and a polished on-screen product.

Early operational involvement, combined with 3D planning using Revit, helped streamline delivery, reduce uncertainty and ensure the event performed as intended across both live and broadcast platforms.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of Revit-based 3D planning has established a new standard for how we approach complex live events. The workflows developed on this project are now scalable across future productions, supporting smarter planning, stronger collaboration and improved outcomes for clients, partners and audiences alike.
