One of the most iconic fixtures in the British sporting calendar, The Boat Race demands a broadcast setup that performs flawlessly across an extended and complex live environment. Delivered for Gravity Media along the River Thame, our role was to design and install the infrastructure required to support consistent, high-quality coverage across the full course.
Working across multiple locations, our team delivered a coordinated installation of camera scaffold towers and platforms, ensuring optimal positioning for live broadcast. This was supported by integrated trussing systems, including cable bridges and flys, alongside tailored camera and cable mounting solutions. Each setup was engineered for repeatability and reliability – maintaining a consistent standard across distance, while enabling seamless integration with the wider production.
Projects of this scale rely on precision and consistency at every point along the course, and this delivery was no exception – providing a robust, unified infrastructure to support a world-class live broadcast.
Led on site by Mark McCaffery, the project also received strong client feedback. As Kirsty Cottle from Gravity Media shared: “Mark is now integral to The Boat Race and is always so helpful. Nothing seems to bother him and he always arrives with a positive attitude and a smile!”
